I’ve been whale watching before in Alaska. But it was more like sitting in a boat holding a camera staring at the water. The whales were a total no-show. But somewhere, somehow, Lonnie Dean happened to have his Canon 1D mkIII & 400mm lens handy to snap this:
Usually, landing a trick will require a skater’s full concentration. Billy Marks decides that a look-back stare down is much more intimidating and hilarious.

If anyone is feeling generous, you should buy this for me! The “Star Wars Real Trooper Hoodie” By Marc Ecko features a hood that zips into a full mask, for all your stormtroopin’ needs! There is also a sweet Boba Fett version, but without the mask zip.
Ok, where have I been? I just discovered Line Rider today. At first, I thought it was a clone of Ski Stunt Simulator, but I found out it was more Etchisketch style, and focused on creative level design. It’s become more than just a web game, having spawned versions on the Nintendo DS, Wii, and iPhone / iPod Touch. Feel free to post a link to your favorite level in the Comments.
This level is the greatest I’ve seen, plus it has music from Cowboy Bebop.
Have a nice D-SLR Camera, a Zoom lens (or something in the 100-105mm range), and a 50mm prime? Jim Talkington posted a hack that can turn your equipment into an extreme macro photography setup.
As you may be able to see from the Flickr Photostream, I like to dabble in photography. I recently have been shooting some macro photography. I’m not that great, but I was fairly happy with some of the results.
If you want to see the best of the best- check out the amazing compilation of Macro Photography over at Smashing Magazine.
There are some amazing photographers out there! Below is my favorite macro photo (pretty much of all-time) which was shot by Martin Amm.
Have you ever driven over a bridge, tapped your hands to the beat of your tires hitting the ridges in the pavement?
Well, apparently some people at Honda got tired of the rhythm and decided they wanted a melody.
This was road was designed by Honda to promote the new Civic, and it located in Lancaster, CA.
Now, there is more to this story- Bad news, Good news, Bad news style.
Bad news- The road in Lancaster is scheduled to be paved over.
Good news- There are still at least 3 more “melody roads” in Japan
Bad news- People drive over them so much, that the ridges are being worn down.
Only time will tell if any other companies will jump on this idea, but it’s not hard to imagine hundreds of cars driving to Disney World, all playing “It’s a small world” on the pavement. Maybe they can try some multi-lane harmonies!
